Sexual violence against both men and women was documented in the early stages of the conflict in 2014.

The majority of cases documented by OHCHR illustrate that sexual violence has been perpetrated as a form of torture and ill-treatment in detention within the context of the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine, as well as in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Most frequent forms of sexual violence used in such situations include beatings and electrocution in the genital area, threats of rape, forced nudity and rape.
