Central African Republic

Since the beginning of the civil war between Séléka rebels and the Anti-balaka militia in CAR in 2012, attacks on civilians remain widespread. The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) has verified cases of conflict-related sexual violence including numerous male survivors. However, the absence of a functioning justice system along with pressure on survivors has contributed to under-reporting. In 2015 and 2016, a disturbing pattern of sexual exploitation and abuse of women and children, including boys by international peacekeepers.
