Marta Castro joined ASP in March 2021 as National Consultant for Colombia. Marta has more than 10 years of experience as a human rights researcher, feminist activist, and humanitarian worker. She has worked as a Human Rights Consultant for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Colombia on conflict-related sexual violence and economic, social and cultural (ESCR) issues. Marta worked as a researcher with Amnesty International Colombia, publishing various reports on the human rights situation in the country. Prior to that she worked on community based protection in the humanitarian sector with UNHCR Peru and DRC Colombia. In all her roles, Marta has worked closely with human rights defenders, at risk communities including armed conflict victims. Marta graduated in Political Science and Law in 2009 and 2010 respectively from the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá. She received a Master’s in Administration and Public Policy from Université Panthéon Assas in Paris.
