Sierra Leone

The eleven-year civil war in Sierra Leone began in March 1991 when the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) attempted to overthrow the Joseph Momoh government. The Sierra Leonean Truth and Reconciliation Commission (2002-2004) as well as the Special Court for Sierra Leone (2002-2013) described cases of sexual violence, sexual mutilation, forced sexual relationships and forced nudity against males and females.
