Ellen Gorris is a policy officer on gender and age at the European Commission, Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO). She works on gender-and age-sensitive humanitarian aid, gender-based violence in emergencies and child protection. She previously worked at the European Commission, Directorate-General for Justice, Gender Equality and Consumers Affairs (rights of the child) and the International Commission of Jurists. She holds degrees in European Law (LL.B, Maastricht University), Public International Law (LL.M, University of Amsterdam), and an advanced master’s degree in Human Rights and Democratisation (European Inter-University Centre Venice, Italy and Central European University, Budapest). She has authored several publications on conflict-related sexual violence against men and boys.
